3 Days in the Mach Loop: Some rare movements

Spent an excellent 3 days in the loop, Monday and Tuesday were fairly slow but Wednesday was excellent with a GAF Tigermeet Tornado ECR flying high through Cad and also an F-15C.

laughing at the tornado pilots looking at you. Lucky it wasn't Americans. They would have thought your camera was an RPG and opened fire.

It's a Tigermeet paint scheme, nato countries paint their aircraft up in crazy schemes like this and hold an event each year I think.

This particular one was on it's way to RIAT

Love the GR4 pics. One of the meatispest looking aircraft in my opinion. The Hawks are superb little aircraft. When was the last time they apwere actually used in combat, if at all?

We used to go camping 15 or so miles north of Barmouth, near the beach, and watch the planes coming over on the dunes.

I don't think they have ever been used in actual combat by the RAF by I know the Indonesian air force uses them as combat aircraft, but they are single seat jets :-)

Oddly enough, I was looking looking at this thread 1/2 an hour ago and my son's just rung asking where is the Mach Loop? and how do you know when to go? (ie when are they flying?) He's home from Germany for the last 2 weeks in August and wants to go. All replies greatly appreciated.

Flying is totally random and no there is no timetable for it, they don't fly weekends so it is just weekdays. Usually from around 8am-6pm

I used a Nikon D300s & a Nikkor 300mm F/4, typical shutter is around 1/800th-1/1000th for jets and around 1/100th-1/200th for props
