Let's also not forget that she wasn't the original BBD. In fact there have been several and not all of them mustangs.

Fortunately, although it doesn't make this any less of a shame, Mustangs are relatively abundant. In fact I believe there are more flying now than there were 15 years ago.

Those parts, one way or another will be flying again.

IIRC the last P51H (lightweight Mustang) was built in November 1945.
