anyone know much about Buzz Aldrin
Discussion
Hi all.
I will be meeting buzz in the next few weeks and want to talk to him about his Air Force career rather than bore him with the usual 'what's it like in space' questions he gets bombarded with daily.
Does anyone know what Fighter Squadrons he flew with in Korea?
(I think he was with the 51st FW, 16 Fighter Interceptor Sqn but can't seem to be able to confirm that)
Any help is much appreciated.

Read his biography "Magnificent Desolation". It is very, very good.I will be meeting buzz in the next few weeks and want to talk to him about his Air Force career rather than bore him with the usual 'what's it like in space' questions he gets bombarded with daily.

5 Topics I would avoid -
How did you get on with your dad?
Why didn't the other astronauts like you?
Yes, Neil really should have been the first out onto the lunar surface.
What drink are you having?
How's Bart Sibrel doing these days?
In fact, I'm sure he's a great guy to chat to. He has plenty to say.
Lucky you.
Whilst doubtless he'll appreciate you having taken an interest in his life pre-Apollo - old fighter pilots are 2 a penny, whilst the opportunity to meet one of the 9 surviving moonwalkers is a priceless opportunity.
I've read countless books about the Apollo programme - but I'd still want to hear from the horse's mouth what it felt like to be there - even if it is the same question everyone asks.
From what I hear - Buzz is one of the most interesting and engaging of the surviving Apollo guys.
I'm deeply jealous.

Another one to add to the list: Vietnam...where were you then?5 Topics I would avoid -

You are correct that it was the 51st FIW, 16th FIS which he flew with during Korea, he piloted the F-86F and was out there from late 1952 to the armistice in July 1953. I believe he shot down two Mig-15s, and I'm pretty sure somewhere on the web you can find a picture from his Sabre of one of the Migs after he shot it down. Ask him about the monolith on Phobos and report back your findings.

What a fantastic opportunity you have there.

How would he know of a monolith on Phobos, unless it was so big it could be seen by a fly-by probe? Seems a bit Erik von Daniken to me.

Well there seems to be something there, shame really as in all clips on youtube always end at that point, would be interesting to hear what was said afterwards.
Plus it came right from the horses mouth so to speak.

The litta Portaytaa don't look much like a space station to me though.
