Evening/night engine run event
Discussion
Hi all,
As some of you know I do some work down at Coventry Airport on the Shackleton. We have an event coming up which we are taking part in, which I've been asked to push -so I thought I'd make mention of it here.
Classic Flight Night Run Event at AIRBASE, Coventry
Once again we are proud to offer the chance to see the Classic Flight fleet in action before the end of the season – the now annual Night Run will be taking place at AIRBASE, Coventry on Saturday December 10.
This event is aimed at photographers and enthusiast alike, though places are limited to allow room to get that perfect shot! There will be some aircraft this year which have either never been seen at the night run event before or have been absent for some time.
Classic Flight is hoping the following aircraft will be run on the night:
BAe Nimrod MR2
Avro Shackleton AEW2
Avro Anson T.21
Douglas DC3
Hunting Percival Jet Provost
De Havilland Vampire
De Havilland Venom
De Havilland Rapide
Gloster Meteor
Percival Prentice
As always, all aircraft taking part in this event appear subject to serviceability, so the running list may change.
More details here -

or contact AIRBASE on 024 7688 2616
If you do attend, please come across to the Shackleton at some point and say hello!
Kind regards,
Rich

Good stuff!
Try this, which is WR963 a couple of years ago. Lots of primer on a cold night, then later when she's opened up there's a nice exhaust flame.

I went last year. Bit of a bunfight on the fence line - could do with cutting numbers or opening larger areas to view from. As it is unless you stake your claim with your tripod early on and stick there, you can end up a bit stuck.
The mix of lighting and 'orrible fence backdrops makes getting decent photos a bit of a challenge too so watching your backgrounds while claiming a spot while trying not to freeze to death make for a fun evening! Great to get fairly close to high powered engines bellowing away though.
