I was lucky enough to spend an afternoon on board the new German Corvette Braunschweig, which was moored at the docklands ExCeL centre a few months back. It has an amazing amount of fire-power for such a small boat. My colleague was an old sea-mate of the Captain. That's the Captain on the left. Rather like policemen, they seem to be getting younger!
With their limitless supply of free booze, things got a bit hazy by night time.
He had to navigate the ship out of the dock, down the Thames and back across the North Sea to Germany at lunchtime the next day. I was in no fit state to do anything!
