Is it just me or is that just a blatant rip off of the F5 Tiger of Vietnam War vintage, but with an extra tail glued on to fit with current trend? They haven't even copied the later F20 Tigershark which had the single after burning engine, iirc.rolleyes

Yep, just a reverse engineered F-5. Think they have been around in their Iranian guise for quite a few years now.

It is the follow up to the HESA Azarakhsh.

Why is it taxiing around with its 'remove before flight' tags and air intake covers on? I don't believe anything that the Iranians publish!

Advanced? it's a 1960s F-5 (designed to arm 3rd world chums at a bargin price) with an extra vertical stabiliser and missing one cannon.

It can ripple fire unguided rockets, just like a Tempest could during the second world war.

It's so amazing I could doze off.

It was F-5s that the US Navy used to practice shooting down, so at least target recognition won't be an issue in WVR engagements with these.

It's a genuine functioning aircraft. It just doesn't really add to their inventory.

They even copies the stupid faired in canopy design favoured by 1950s and 60s designers, which forgot all the lessons learnt during WWII.

'Iran rehashes 50 year old design of Day VMC fighter and showcase it to the world firing unguided rockets'. Great success!
I think we'll stick to worrying about sa15/iHawk...
