Early Sikorsky S-58 (later Wessex) helicopters had a radial engine:



Saw a new 4 seat Russian Mil Mi-34C1 helicopter which used a radial the other day, didn't half smoke on startup! Looked the part, but in reality a total piece of crap.

Focke-Wulf - to be precise?

The Fw190 is one of a select few fighters to have been fited with both in-line and radial engines.

The Fw190D had a Daimler Benz in-line engine.



The Curtiss Hawk family began with radials and then switched to in-lines.

I've always liked the ultimate expression of the 190 the TA-152. I'd hate to think how hard it was to taxi and land, but what an engine.

Those photos of the FW190 make it look much slimmer than I remember (not "remember in 1942"...or whenever they were around)

The 190D and 152 look "slimmer" because they have a longer nose to accomodate the liquid cooled Daimler Benz.
