Replacing outdrive shift cable
Discussion
Hello all, I have a 1984 Sealine 22 with a Volvo Penta 290 outdrive.
I'm replacing the shift cable, I've got it off the control lever in the cockpit, and slid up the plate on the front of the outdrive.
It's stiff as hell. A daft question: Should I be pulling it into the boat, or pulling the length of the cable out through the back of the outdrive?
Crofty the cable attaches to the drive in two places. Firstly under the cover which I guess you have found and then also the other side of the drive on the outside you will find a U shaped plate held with one bolt into the drive that holds the sheath.
Other than that it is just cable through a hose so you could theoretically take it out either way but it is usual to draw it into the engine bay.
Not very clear but part 28 here.
