Man in space...

I know it has been done to death, but 51 years ago, Man went in space... Seems trivial now, but every year on that day i think about this achievement. Must have been great to look up to the sky and think that we, as humankind, have made a small inroad in there. I still have the same fascination with the americans sending man on the moon too...

P.S. Gagarin was a cool dude too, by all accounts...

I have a good friend in the US and his uncle was Ed White, the first Anerican to walk in space and who subsequently died in the launch pad fire. Seeing his personal photographs and all the memoribillia gave me a great thrill. His mum (Ed's sister ) remains very proud.
