Atlantis 50ft from Azimut, thoughts?
Discussion
My wife torpedoed the idea of a yacht recently after hating the way they Heel (kids are 4&6 and were clinging on). So our game plan has changed with a motor yacht being given the provisional green light.
Que much trawling of classifieds and the one that seems to fit the bill is this;
It has 3 cabins, diesel, can fit on my brothers swing mooring (max length 50ft/25 tons), and has the sports look I'm after.
From what I can deduce they are built on a Azimut hull but not sure about quality of build. There was a model redesign around 2009 but it's the earlier more 'open' version I like.
Target price is $450-$500k
Any brokers/shipwrights know much about the brand as its relatively unknown here in Sydney.

Azimut does not have the greatest of reputations for build quality if a few years old, they are a bit better now. Our finance director at the boatyard had one for 4 years which he lost quite a bit on depreciation. He bought an East Bay to replace it.

My Brother had actually advised me similiar on yachts we looked at (hull strengths etc..) but he has limited knowledge on motor yachts. As side bar he's advised to get a Riviera purely because they have a good reputation in the industry here in Australia.
we had the uk agency for riviera for a while and had a 37 as a demo boat... as has already been said... built like a brick sh*t house.
have you considered windy?...
one of these:- http://www.windy.no/windy_44.html or maybe one of these http://www.windy.no/windy_52.html (or even one of these http://www.windy.no/windy_53.html).
they are not exactly 'cheap', but you do get what you pay for. brokerage examples are a bit like hens teeth, but if you want, i can put you in touch with my colleague who looks after the brokerage for these things.

just re-read your original post... i don't think you will find a windy 44 or 52 for the sort of money you are spending (on account that they are still so new).
you could go with a fairline targa 48 or a princess v-series of some description. we have a 1997 3-cabin targa 48 for sale in the s.of.france at about euro 190k (AUS$232k or thereabouts) or a 2002 targa 52 here in the uk at £250k (AUS$380k).

Can you ask him if he was the one who sold my mate Paul in Guernsey his new 44' with Volvo D6/DPHs. He looked at the Yanmars but the time to get onto the plane was aweful. I talked him into the 470hp Volvos, he's very happy with them.Opinions on Sunseekers?
50' Camargue in particular. This is a strong second but not a fan of how the internal tender storage basically robs a cabin from the design.
Still there's one on the Goldcoast QLD for Au$450neg which would alleviate the hassle of international shipping and duty.

just out of interest... have you obtained a quote for shipping from the UK or Med?... if not, it may be worth doing that as sometimes the prices can be slightly eye-watering. 50' Camargue in particular. (btw... the above is not a personal or professional recommendation, so don't come back to me if they drop your prized new possession from a crane at 100ft in the air! lol)
