Typhoon Over London

Just this moment seen one flying Westwards over Southgate, north London. Precursor to the Olympics? Or is it headed to Farnborough in a roundabout way?

Would he not be under air traffic direction around London, so could be going as you say 'roundabout'.

I doubt it was heading to Farnborough, unless one of the RIAT Tiffie's went tech before leaving there today?
Solo aeros a/c would most likely route to Farnborough straight from RIAT.

They are based at RAF Northolt for the Olympics, so it was probably one of those. They are doing sorties 'locally' for training etc.

Not due back there just yet as far as I'm aware.....

Doesn't mean they arn't doing the odd sortie to the area out of Coningsby though until the det returns to Northolt.

Well, they are having a lie-in then, as the area around the QRA covers was dead this morning when I went past, and there was activity around them most days when they were there for the exercise a few months back.

Await my windows rattling then soon if they get airborne

I think they do for all landings at Northolt in that direction.
