I went to the Virtual flight sim at Coolham hear Horsham this morning. I am a bit of a plane geek, and have always wanted a go in a proper sim since watching the krypton factor when i was a kid. Having had several trial flying lessons out of shoreham airport, and working as push back driver at LGW i was unsure what to expect. The sim was an ex Ryanair 737-200 flight deck with an NG conversion. It is a really professional outfit, nice waiting area/briefing room with lots of pictures and models etc. The sim itself is so realistic, it is the first 30ft of the ex Jaguar livery ryanair aircraft, complete with galley cabin seats and over head lockers. My instructor was an ex commercial pilot named Kevin who was excellent, he let me get on with it and gave me 9/10 which i was chuffed with. I will definately be returning for another go sometime soon.

What software package do they use for the flight programme/terrain simulation etc? Would be interested to know.

I think its called fs9. I taxied the aircraft onto stand at Manchester and the scenery was excellent. The sim has been used on Discovery channels air crash investigation and various news pieces.
