At this risk of letting people know I'm a bit sad - does anybody else play this? I signed up and started the demo yesterday and am already quite hooked...think I will be signing up for the big game soon too
Just curious if anybody else out there plays the game and might share hints / tips? Or if anybody doesn't play but has thought about it we might be able to persuade them!
Cheers,
Alex

What is it...? I don't have google at work, although I do have PH =S
www.airwaysim.comEffectively an online portal game where you can set up, own and manage your own airline dealing with setting up routes, pricing, leasing aircraft, maintenance etc.
Like any Tycoon style game but with plane instead. It's a mass multiplayer online game, so you play everybody else in various worlds / scenarios.

oddly enough i started the demo yesterday too. i'm not doing to well though, 1.2m in the red after 24hrs, oops!
I went bust once already but made some better decisions this time around (barring a failed Denver operation). I've had to spend a fortune on airport slots to fix this, but now appear to be spinning off around $50k of cash per game day...so every half hour. Still $200k the wrong way of zero though. Should be able to afford a new plane / route by this time tomorrow....!!sorrento205 said:
i think i made a bad call by choosing barbados as my base, leased 2x planes flying to JFK and MIA, but the distance means i can only do one round trip daily
Go short and overload it. I have two planes flying Minneapolis to Chicago going opposite directions, so essentially 16 flights per day, stick to one route
And make sure you get the same type of plane - saves a lot on maintenance!miln0039 said:

i leased an md82 and md88, both 150pax. problem now is all the routes less than 500nm have very low estimated pax/day. jfk and mia are both over 200est but im only averaging a load factor of 66% even after lowering my fare about 25% from the recommended.

How was the change from the demo to beginner world?
Much better, at least in the beginner world you can get outside of North America. If you are thinking of starting this world let me know and I'll see what airports have good slots - all the major UK ones are already gone Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester.CharlieCrocodile said:

I plan on spending a few more days on the demo before upgrading - but sounds a lot trickier in beginner world! I figured that given the game is half way through that a lot of those places would have gone. Contemplating basing in the mid-west of USA again and concentrating on short haul initially.sorrento205 said:

I would stay on default fares - it's what I've done and moving them about seems to make no difference! You probably need 80% plus LF on those routes to be profitable sadly. Try Company Image marketing but leave route marketing alone, it will come good I'm told. Also are you more than the 10 miles x max passenger ratio for the route distance? If so there will be very little margin in there...very deep game!!
This is a really helpful read: http://www.airwaysim.com/forum/index.php/topic,317...
Sat at a cool $1m in the bank now and profit seems to be skipping along nicely. Sadly, I've not got enough to get a new plane on lease to expand and my lease payments are going to hit my cash generation soon
Also all the used planes have vanished from the market.
Hmmm, to fly one plane in the rubbish hours of the night - that be the question....

Remember you don't pay lease payments for the first 3 or 4 months, can't remember which, of the lease!
Also, do NOT lease aircraft with the C or D check expired or about to expire. Always terminate the lease just before the D check expires otherwise the plane will be out for 60 days. If you buy a plane with these checks expired then it will not fly for some time.

All my planes are hunky dorey at the moment and have around 10 months to go until their C check. Also, do NOT lease aircraft with the C or D check expired or about to expire. What is annoying me is that I just got a tax bill for $465k - when I've made cumulatively a $4.5 MILLION loss thus far. I can't find information on when this is taken and for what period it is?
Leases payments start next month - will take me back to roughly a break even position. This is quite tricky really!!!
