We're going on holiday soon and the house we're staying in has boats but no lifejackets. We're flying there so need something compact. Anyone got any suggestions? (The kids are 2 and 4)

What type of boat is it?

The only lifejackets suitable for such young kiddies are the full foam min 100N with crotch straps and collar - they turn the child onto their back.

Not particularly compact.

That's what I suspected, and looking at it logically foam can only be so buoyant...

Watch eBay item 170877759783, should be suitable for the 2 year old, but check on the crewsaver website. We used one on my boys from just a few weeks old and the now (small) 8-yo still uses the same self-righting design.

Car seats are usually no cost to put in the hold so you could bundle the life jackets in with car seat and throw in the hold for free or get the kids to carry on as hand luggage

Or....... Get the kids to wear them onto the plane and take hand luggage too. smile

Is there anywhere you can buy the foam ones when you are there?
Leave them behind for the next folks who have kids.
At the end of the day, what price your childrens lives, and the enjoyment of your holiday?

Don't worry, I am going to get some, it's just a question of how we go about it. I suspect buying them out there and bringing them home in the space vacated by nappies is the way forward.

if your going near stockholme you can buy lifejackets in the decathlon there.

Or you could order online and have it delivered to where you are staying, then mail them back.

Brilliant, cheers. We're about an hour from there.
