Finally got round to watching this online. A really fascinating programme. It was interesting to see how BR was viewed and the way the rail industry tried to turn itself around in the 1970's.
It would be interesting to see a programme on the ill-fated APT project. It was quite sad to see the last remaining survivor, parked up, going rusty being used as a venue for childrens parties.

Heres some background to why the APT project ultimately failed,the fact that the engineering principle was sound has been proven(see last para).Pendalinos use electric motors to tilt,Voyagers use a hydraulic system which Virgin have persisted with despite continued problems.Arriva decided to isolate the system soon after taking over the XC franchise as the limited areas where tilt was permitted just didn't make it worth while.
