Getting by car from Richmond - City of London daily takes about an hour on a good day and pick a number on a bad day.

Can this be used? What would it be classed as? Quad? Boat? or??

There is a slipway near my house and one 1 mile from the office. 8 knot speed limit to Wandsworth Bridge and then no speed limit (as long as you are driving safely).

ETA..... I appreciate it would need lights, plates etc, etc.....much like other road legal Quad bikes.

You'd need a dry suit as well

So how long would your journey be on one of these?

A Quadski has been added to my "when I win the lottery" list.

Approx 5 miles to Chiswick Bridge to Wandsworth Bridge @ 8 Knots (10mph ish).

Approx 7 Miles from Wandsworth Bridge to City @ No speed limit. You have to go at a safe speed. 20 Knots.

+ 5 mins either end.

About an hour in total so not a time saver on a good run but times would not vary. Fun in summer but not otherwise.

I'm going to call the makers in America tonight to see what they think about legalities. It would be a great toy to have.

Would a scooter not be an excellent alternative?

One of our managers I work with did a feasibility study on these for the RNLI, conclusion was they were a bit too heavy and jack of all trades for a dedicated rescue tool, but as a toy / comuting weapon bloody ace! When I see him next I will ask whether he looked in to SVA testing etc.

I have fancied one for years and can't understand why they are not littering our waterways already.

Because it looks like they'd cost something like £30k once all taxes etc have been paid in the UK.

Thing is it looks like a rubbish Quad, more of a Jetski that "will" go on land too... I think you'd soon wish you were on a proper off road quad when you start using it off road...

Cool and clever but probably not great at being either is it?

Isn't it just!

I used to live on the banks of the Thames and regularly swim without wet suit; it was a glorious summer.

When winter came and the tide rose leaving the general detris and supprisingly large creatures that live in there I was astounded and have never put a toe in since eek
