While out walking the dog in the remains of an old steelworks. I came across these 2 parts of an old light.
There is a rail symbol on the front below the red light. The yard was lifted about 15 years ago and one of the coves had a tree growing through the handle.
So what is it exactly and what was its use in working life?

Would love to make it work, but I only have the shells. There's nothin else with it so would need to track down all the parts.
What for? It's not exactly collectible or rare.I've got a paraffin-fired version of its predecessor which is lovely.....all brass parts inside, enamelled white exterior and a glass lens. The item you've found is the cheap, plastic chuck-away variety.
