Vulcan XH558 is delighted to invite her friends to afternoon tea at 1pm on Sunday, November 25th. Our highly knowledgeable guide
Toni Hunter has arranged sandwiches, scones, tea & coffee in the hangar with members of the flight crew – including members of the famous 1982 Black Buck missions - and technical specialists from the engineering team. We will also have an extended tour of the aircraft so you can get up close to the world’s last flying Vulcan. Only a handful of tickets are available at £25 each to raise money for the winter service. XH558 is based at Robin Hood Airport Doncaster, previously RAF Finningley. I went last friday with my parents. It's great to see XH558 up close, but £12 to stand under it & listen to a 'guide' who didn't even know which engines she's got (he ranged from 3001s, 2001s, 300s & I think once mentioned 201s) is rather steep. hard to get any good pics with her being painted in places & almost all roped off too.

IMO, peoples goodwill towards the Vulcan is waining fast. It's a fast bleeder when it comes to money and I agree with DamienB, 25 sheets for a tea and a scone is off the scale.

Seconded. Now they've chucked in the towel and set an end date for flying any donation looks like money down the drain more than ever before.

For What it's worth .... Toni is an amazing lady who is always trying to find ways to raise money for 558. She did me a very special service two years back.

The Vulcan was in Winter Service in Lyneham, and Toni helped arrange a little surprise for my girlfriend. At the end of a hanger tour, we found ourselves alone under 558's nose with me on one knee proposing.

She said yes, and even the wedding invites had a little Vulcan on them ļ

If it wasn't for Toni's help and getting the rest of the 558 Lyneham team on board it would have been a boring cliched proposal in Paris ...
