There are a few bits of fuzzy Spitfire but most of it is a fuzzy biplane doing aerobatics and some mashed up music.

216 "Loads" and 101 "Plays" since this post yesterday.
The background to this is that me and a mate of mine both made "flying" videos, he was at 1156 views and I was (a laughing stock) at 49.
The "Spitfire" is a Supermarine Mk26 replica, A £160k Aussie kit plane to put it bluntly. The engine is a flat 8 Jabiru of (I think) about 7 litres. It's testament to the spitfire shape that it actually goes like stink on roughly 15% of a Merlin's power.
Quite a few "fuzzy" comments. It was filmed in 1080p / 30FPS / 170deg with 2 GoPro HD2's and a "Mini DV HD" (from Dogcam). The GoPro stuff is much better, particularly for colour and white balance. This being said, the Vimeo upload is @ 720p.
170 degree wide angle is great, but you have to be virtually touching for the other aircraft to fill the screen - so it's "zoomed" with the editing software and therefore some resolution gets lost. Some of the stuff in the film is 20' apart ... plenty close enough for me !
Finally, it was filmed on 14th October at around 2 to 3pm ...... so who was that in the background at Rockingham ? (@ 3.04 in the film)

I think the replica is a great aircraft & really good fun ....
For me the problem is that calling it a "Supermarine Spitfire MK26" perhaps aims to deceive rather than pay homage to the original.
It does not help when spectators occasionally think it's a real one, it sort of detracts from rather than enhances the legend. A bit like a replica "cobra" with a 2l Pinto in it .... could end up with some kid telling his mates at school that his dad's Mondeo is faster.
This being said, anyone who's willing to spend £160k and thousands of hours to build a replica is a true enthusiast in my book .... and the finished result is more "Duratec Westfield" than "Pinto Cobra" is you catch my drift.
