About a minute in it's quite impressive.
And to think that in this country, we stop because of wet leaves..

We have some fairly heavy duty snow ploughs in the UK. Here's one, although not in action.

How do think that we keep the railways in the Highlands, Pennines, etc, open in the winter?

I've head the leaf explanation before. Leaves aren't a new invention. They've been around longer than trains. Drop the "can't do" attitude and sort it the f
k out.

Apologies for the mini-bump, but thought I should mention we tried that down in Kent/Sussex about a decade ago...To this day, we are suffering landslides where we never had them before because the trees were holding everything in place

Substitute the phrase 'Black Ice' for the word 'leaf' and then substitute the word 'car' for the word 'train' - Same basic issue and just as tough to solve. There is a LOT of attention paid to leaf fall, and it isn't nearly as simple as the likes of the daily mail would have you believe.I've head the leaf explanation before. Railways are extraordinarily complex and this semi privatised system doesn't help things. The average Joe has no idea how much work goes ino thier train arriving on time.
I saw them doing this when I lived there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QenN5DVuLtw one of the people on the two way sounds familiar.
