RNLI Shannon Class

Few of my buddies work for the RLNI, one of them in Engineering where I am told they are bringing life boat manufacture in-house. This I think is their first boat, the Shannon Class. Looks like a beauty! They have gone for jets rather than prop+rudder and seems really nimble. They have those immense shock absorbing seats on this boat too.
I hope this works out for them. The last boat the Taymar class had some issues with its Hull. It was lots of layers laminated together, very strong but they weren't adhered properly the layers could separate under load and with those special seats the helmsmen were battering the things to death because they were very well cushioned from the blows!

Dare I say that it looked like they were enjoying themselves on the test run? Not meant to a flippant comment or anything like that.
They just had that 'we are totally confident with the boat so let's have some fun' look. The joystick control looked good & as for the seat movement.......

And let us hope that the RNLI continues to be a charitable foundation and isn't subjected to the ludicrous red tape of a nationalised institution.
Just imagine what it would have been like if a government department had been involved. The end result would probably have been 20 years away, cost £3bn and went on rails rather than water!
