London boat show

Went today with wife and 3 yr old daughter. Never been to a boat show before and not hugely interested but just saw it was on and thought it was something different for us to do.
Brilliant! We all had a really good time and I was surprised as riff raff, to be allowed access to some amazing kit. I would describe it as goodwood fos but with boats which obviously don't move. Probably the only time I would ever be able to set foot on anything so lavish though so very impressed with the accessibility of it all. Also they had some v nice motors on display. Aston one 77, zonda roadster, koenigsegg etc.
All in all a damn good day out and highly recommended can get some codes online via google search for cheaper tickets too.

Only if I get a lotto win! I think the first one we stepped upon the guy showing somebody around was talking prices and it was 2 mil "plus the vat" he really emphasised the vat bit.
I'm just thinking yeah if it wasn't for that pesky vat eh. Imagine paying 400k in vat on a boat. That's more than most average people spend on a house!
I did see a nice little boat for 20k. Looked like a lot of fun. Then I learned that it was a tender for one of the big ones. How the other half live eh.
All that said, I was quite surprised at the relatively low cost of the sun seekers and their ilk. At around 2-4 million they looked fantastic fun and v impressive. I can't imagine what those seen on here in the 60 mil plus boats thread must be like!
Highly unlikely I will ever have to choose but tbh if I did my 2-4mil would probably go on cars instead. Was very good to have a look around at them though.

At a price I cannot afford unfortunately. And splashing around in cold murky uk waters appeals to me not one jot I'm afraid. I can see myself cruising the Caribbean in a rather large vessel but regretfully, only in my dreams.

Ha, no, though maybe I should be. But 99% of boats for sale are second-hand, and boats depreciate like stones for the first few years - which means that whatever kind of boat you want, you'll get a much better deal s/h. A boat is also much more complex to own and operate than a car, so it's sensible to do your learning curve on something that's already got a few dents in it
