I'm working in Essen for a week. Imagine my surprise when I saw on old DLR train pull into the U-Bahn station to take me to work.

Are there any other nostalgic surprises coming up for me? I've got Franfurt, Cologne and Munich coming up this year, as well as a couple in Northern France and one near Eindhoven.

Cologne didn't have anything unusual when I was there in the Autumn, it was however the usual German efficiency.

I was surprised that the ferry that took me across the Cook Straits in NZ had been called 'Pride of Cherbourg'!

Must have turned left by mistake...

I was there in September, but my customer and I couldn't agree a day rate. I came in on the Saturday, spent 4 days drinking and left on the Thursday, having worked one day. Consequently, I don't remember anything about the transport infrastructure. Bars around the Dom, though...
