Hello,

I recently read about a Boeing being found 2009 in the Mali desert,

probably used by drug traffickers and burned deliberately.

As far as I can remember, there was no thread about this here,

so can anyone give more info as to where the plane was registered,

how it escaped international flight control etc.

These things just don´t get bought (stolen?), joyridden and vanish in a big black cloud ?

How many tons of "freight" could be transported with such a plane ?

Possibly this one.

The 727 is a pretty good choice for this job - basic technology, designed to fly into fairly rough strips, low landing speed. Probably stolen to order, and flying around in the uncontrolled airspace of the Sahara doing all kinds of dodgy stuff.

Sounds like it might not be a unique event.
