"Vandals wreaked havoc at Popham Airfield after breaking into buildings on the site on 27 January. Police have now released CCTV images in the hope of catching the criminals responsible for the damage. PC Matt Deery said, “These offenders have caused a huge amount of damage to aircraft, business premises and the clubhouse at the airfield. “If you know anything about this incident or recognise anyone from the CCTV images, please contact me. Equally if you are offered any such tools or equipment for sale in suspicious circumstances, please contact the police.” Anyone with information should call Whitchurch police station on 101."

Scum of the earth!

Terrible.

It's such a lovely little airfield.

Slightly OT.

I drove past Popham on Sunday. What is the large bi-plane usually at the Eastern edge of the airfield?

It`s mainly white with a four bladed prop.

That kind of wilful destruction is just sickening.

I've only been to Popham once, but made quite an entrance. Aged about 7 I flew in there with my dad who was going to meet a customer (as a single dad he often had to take me on business trips during school holiday, which I didn't mind as many he often went to by plane). It was a bumpy day i'd had one too many Robinson's Blackcurrant and Apple juices. I so nearly made it to Terra Firma, but unfortunately not close enough...puking my guts up just as we got lined up on finals. Somehow managed to puke on my dads leg rather than in a sick bag, and the customer actually ended up helping us to clean the cockpit up and what's more remained a customer for some years after!

They should get the scum via the photos.

Bad news indeed. It makes you wonder why they chose that site; it's in the middle of nowhere so it doesn't seem like they just happened across the site and decided to carry out some wanton destruction. They must have planned the incident and driven out there.
