scared of flying, going in a chopper tomorrow
Discussion
I'm pretty scared of flying, I don't like the noises and bumps and as such Ive educated myself to the reasons things happen on planes and what each noise is. That and many G&Ts
however, I've hitched a free ride over London tomorrow to take some photos of some sites, apart from staying away from cranes, can anyone tell me what to expect?
and drinking g&t is not an option as have to go back to work after

If you are taking photos make sure they take the door off to ensure the best view!! Ignore all the guff about helicopters being unsafe, you're fine as long as you have a good pilot!
I have a pro photographer doing the photos, I'm just going along for s
ts and giggles. He said bring something warm as it will be cold with the doors open. We have got it from here: http://www.excelcharter.com/
It depends. I've flown in a relatively large one (with Avril Lavigne
) in Monaco and that was fine and a God-awful small one in Borneo and I thought I was going to die. It was shaking all over the place and the pilot seems as though he had Parkison's the way he was manipulating the joystick.

They're both twin engine so that's a good chunk of the risk gone I guess !
I am lucky enough to have flown in a AS355N quite a few times and over "long" distances, including over the channel and it felt really safe.
Good point, unless you have an uncontained failure on one engine that spits turbine blades all over the place, or the tail rotor fails or theres a serious problem with the main gear box or the hydraulics fail or most importantly you momentarily have doubt in your mind that a helicopter can fly!! A single doubt and the helicopter will know and instantly fall out of the sky!I am lucky enough to have flown in a AS355N quite a few times and over "long" distances, including over the channel and it felt really safe.
