Plebs standing up in 1st Class

In which case, they shouldn't have been there. FGW doesn't allow it (when the revenue inspector can actually travel through the train to remove them...)
It should be compulsory on the trains that if people have to stand due to overcrowding that they are automatically seated in 1st classPuggit said:

I've never quite fathomed the way they work out the number of fist class carriages to attach to one of the trains during peak time out of Paddington though.Seems like 4 or 5 of the things with nobody in (25% occupancy maybe, tops) when I walk to the pleb end of the train where we're all crammed in, sitting in luggage racks and stood up and down the aisles.
It must be pretty annoying for those breathing the sweet first class air when the unwashed masses join them, try complaining to the train line and suggest they put on some more cattle carriages as first is almost always mostly empty!
They'll probably just employ a guy with a cattle prod to keep us out.
Thankfully I only have to get the train into London a few times a month, but previously I've commuted from Basingstoke which was a much more reliable service than the lines from Oxford, seemed more regular and not quite so crowded too.
Not a big fan of FGW...

The number of first class carriages is the same in every set, regardless of time. They can't change it according to how busy it is. (NB - I don't like FGW much either. thirdratewestern.blogspot.com )
I'm a pleb!
I commute in from Reading to Paddington every day.
As the proud holder of a 2nd class ticket I have the choice of standing in the carriage ends in the the pleb carriages, or, as I do most days, standing in the carriage ends in first without the other plebs where there's more room and I know it upsets the 1st class grandees as the doors are continually triggered and allow cold air and noise into the 1st class areas, particularly satisfying when the door closes with a huge 'BANG' every 2 minutes. Also, I enjoy getting in the way of the serving trolley person so it delays the delivery to the non-plebs.
Oh, and when the train arrives at either Paddington or Reading, the 1st class carriages are closer to the exits.
In 4 weeks, I've been moved on twice, herded towards cattle class. That wasn't the guards finest hour as all he achieved was to squash everyone into the buffet car meaning no one would get in or out of the kitchens to serve food.

What's to say that the "plebs" standing up in 1st class don't have a 1st class ticket/travelcard? Preferably to stand in 1st class rather than stand in 2nd class if the train is full. Nicer carpet and slightly more standing room!!
If they had a ticket for 1st they'd be sat in their seat, doofus.Piersman2 said:

Indeed you are, sir. Next time I shall have you forcibly removed by one of my footmen. Oh, and as a small footnote, do try to procure some more robust deodorant would you, there's a dear chap. We all realise working in the city is strenuous but the whiff of poor drifting down the carriage really is rather unpleasant.
