I'm attending a conference shortly, and one of the seminars is by Jas Hawker, a former Red Arrows commander.

They have just emailed saying its a q&a session, and could we email questions in. Nothing springs to mind, so I was wondering if you guys had any questions you would ask him?

Does your bum ever go 50, 5p, 50p, 5p when you're flying at 400knots, 6ft from other metal trying not to make contact at 2000ft in a tight turn?

Fast-jet jockies are born in flight suits. They can't be taken off!

Hawk or Gnat? (or if he's not that old, what would he like to see eventually replace the Hawk?)

Most shows per day?

Number of shows per year?

Do they always fly in-formation like we see over the UK? What about transit flights to other countries?

Most respected foreign display team?

How many hours practice pre-season?

Do the Red Arrows Hawks have a normal RAF life before/after being in the team?

I know, just makes me smile at the thought of a steely-eyed square-jawed fast jet god being asked Blue Peter questions.....speaking of which, maybe ask him if the urban myth about Katy Hil and Reds 1-3 is true?

On a marginally more serious note you could ask him, candidly and honestly, what his view is on how and why the MoD can (be seen) to afford a PR squadron having just binned SAR, scrapped Nimrod, cancelled Sentinel etc. etc. AND with the end of Hawk in sight too.
I know it's been done to death before and there are pretty standard answers, but would be good to get his take, given things are moving rapidly in the world of UK military aviation.
Is he still serving and thus obliged to take the party line fed by a career-protecting future director of BAE in Whitehall or can he decide for himself now?

Are you proud of the contribution you made to global warming, by needlessly and irresponsibly increasing the the number of carbon dioxides in the atmosphere?

Are you concerned that by spraying diesel about all over the place you might give cancer to unborn bunnies?

I did go to a talk given by a current Red Arrows pilot, and wanted to ask his opinion on Kirsty Stewarts decision not to fly with them, as I was genuinely interested, but bottled it as I thought I'd probably just get the party line anyway.

Her decision was the right one for her and I'm sure everyone's opinion of it in the team and the wider comunity would have been fully supportive of it, flight safety is the number 1 thing in aviation.

Tell him that we on here saw the two lights out on the Olympic Flypast, and we got it.

If that doesn't get you into his good books......
