Anyone got a JCB and some concrete? Lock collapse
Discussion
Once everything is put in place on-site time would probably be less than 10 weeks or so. They tend to construct the wall using concrete then face in brick these days.
Although a wall collapse doesn't happen very often it is a relatively easy fix.
Narrowboatworld does seem to be the Daily Mail of waterways websites at times!

There’s a massive building site next door, creating a much bigger factory than the locals thought it was going to be, and they are rather close to the canal.
I am sure it’s just a coincidence though...!
I designed a canalside development a few years ago where we discovered a series of buried, ground anchored tie bars (which BWB didn't know about themselves) restraining the side of the canal. We were honest about it and came up with a proper (and very expensive - circa £1/2 million, from memory) fix in consultation with their engineers, but it was seriously tempting to just cut the ties (which were in the way of our foundations and drainage) and get on with it without telling them...I am sure it’s just a coincidence though...!
The most amusing aspect of the episode was that the BWB staff were obliged to wear life jackets, on the insistence of their Safety Elfs, whenever they visited the site, despite the fact that the towpath formed a major cycle and pedestrian route into a city.
Same happened by me last week.
BWB had to replace some fencing on a canal towpath (the fence was 20 foot away from the canal-side) however the BWB blokes had to wear hi-vis vests & life jackets!!!
Very funny to watch although the blokes themselves were not happy.
Whilst they did the job they were watched by two Health & Safety pilchards, complete with the obligatory clipboards, neither of whom wore life jackets so work that one out!!
