Wing Walking

It's my 30th birthday next year and I'd quite like to give wing walking a try... I've done some very preliminary research and the places I've found impose an 11.5 stone weight limit, whilst I'm no porker (honest) I'm 6ft 2" and that's a big ask. The last time I weighed that was about 7 years ago after relentlessly training for a marathon.

So, does anyone have anything to do with anyone who offers wing-walking and how flexible are the weight limits...? I'm sure I've seen people off the telly who weigh more than this doing it in the past, Jake Humphries for example.

For the record, I think I can do 12 stonewith training and sensible eating (if I start now - I seem to have inflated to 14 stone of late), but I can't see me hitting 11.5.

Not a chance, wouod love to do it but cant get my head around how you dont fall off when climbing out the cockpit onto the wing. Surely it must be immense and just woof your gone?

You don't, you get strapped into the frame on the wing before take-off. Only the girls who do it all the time do the whole climbing up/down thing in flight.

Ah I see ive only seen the girls do it and then when karl pilkington did it and they all had to climb out of cockpit.
Must now think of another reason why I cant do it! Oh yeah im a giffer and by the time I get down to weight my bones will be brittle.

I remember seeing this on TV in the 1970s. It could have been on 'World of Sport' (with Dickie Davis) just before the wrestling. It was the era of dare-devil showmen like Evel Knievel etc. and stuff like this was often a part of the meagre TV schedule.


I wouldn't mind a go but I'd be afraid of a bird strike. I'm sure it would sting a bit, if not prove fatal!

I know a (french) man who has done it on one of their Stearmans for his birthday, he wasn't that thin. Definitely talk to them, very easy to talk to.

I've spoken to Aerosuperbatics, 6ft 2" height limit, 14.5 stone weight limit... Looks like I'm good to go.
