Any PH petrol head pilots using EGBW

HI All

Just wondering if there are any Petrol heads on here that are also pilots and use/frequent Wellesbourne (EGBW) on a regular basis??

I go there pretty regularly and would be be good to meet up with like minded individuals.

I did all my initial PPL, Night & IMC there and a few years back my CPL.

I'm just about to sign up with TF and get checked out on Tuesday as miss VFR flying.

Who do you fly with and if you fancy meeting up, flight sharing etc, would be good to meet up

I fly with Aeros out of Wellesbourne. Regularly drive/cycle over there for bacon rolls too.

I looked at Aeros, and know some of the staff who moved across when they bought out Wellesbourne Aviation, I was however advised to go elsewhere due to their poor management!!!

There self hire rates are stupidly expensive unless you become a pay monthly member then its not too bad and the Arrow is certainly more affordable through this but the Saratoga is still hugely expensive. They do have a good selection of aircraft though and G-GYTO was a favorite of mine years ago.

I've been there since the Wellesbourne Aviation and Cabair days too. Tango Oscar is a favourite of mine too, been all over the place in that! It is a bit of a frustration when you book an aircraft from there and you end up getting something different to what you were expecting with a different avionics fit out, but I think the next move for me would be to get a share in something which would reduce the costs and negate that problem.

I'm flying the 152 at the moment with SW flying school, just doing a few refresh trips to get my licence revalidated as I haven't flown fixed wing for 6ish years.

I popped into TF yesterday actually as they were having a little open day, they seemed like a really decent bunch with a good fleet. I'd quite like to get out in their Firefly at some point and see if I can remember how to do aeros!

I'm definitely keen to meet up and do some hours sharing, unfortunately I'm only around at weekends at the moment. I reckon I'll be doing my skills test in 3 weeks so ill be good to go after that. Or possibly before if you go PiC?

What do you fly by day?

I popped in to SW when I was looking for a replacement flying club after WA were bought out, I found it a nice little club but far away from the social life at the cafe if I'm thinking if the right one!!! Is your club next to the Vulcan?

I quite like how most the clubs are centralized around the cafe.

I'm getting checked out on a PA28 tomorrow at TF, unfortunately they don't have an Arrow or twin which would be nice options.
GA wise I have only flown, PA38, 28, 28R, 34 & BE76, I tried a Cessna but I found it to cosy in a 152 and have done an hours aero' in a slingsby too

I'm available some weekends too but my first choice would be weekdays as hire rates are less, aircraft availability is better & GA is quieter in the week too.

Yeah that's right - by the Vulcan. It's definitely more of a "school" that a "club" although they do have the odd social.

I haven't even been round to the cafe yet - I'll check it out next weekend!

Well, popped into TF today, checked out on their PA28 and now a member there.

Looks like they will be having a complex single within the next couple of months too

We work round and inside Birmingham's airspace quite a bit
