Anyone on here do/done it?

There's an event on right near my house and been down with the kids today for a walk, watch and ice cream - and thought it was excellent.

Some of the slower races a bit less so - but i'm guessing I witness an elite race just before I left!

What sort of speeds do they hit and what sort of RPM do the boats get to? Seem very highly!

Would love a bash!

I've not raced myself for years now but get involved in the running of offshore here and there.

I assume you mean West Bay if talking about offshore or Carr Mill if inshore?

Two distinct sports really as they carry their own unique classes and run in totally different environments.

Very hard to be specific without knowing an exact boat but RPM's range anything from 2500 to 12000 depending on diesel, 2/4 stroke, inboard or outboard and speeds of around 120 mph if looking at an F2 inshore or 100mph for an A class offshore marathon.

This is what I'm getting involved in at the moment. http://www.wharf.co.uk/2013/04/canary-wharf-to-get... with another UIM cross channel race a month later out of Ramsgate.
