I didn't see it, but apparently the One Show had a piece about Lusty being in Greenwich for the BOA 70 celebrations. Anyone have any info on ship visits on the weekend?

I happen to be in London seeing Star Trek on Sat, so I have to go to this, even just to get a good look from the outside.

Anyone with any info?

I heard Chris Evans talking about it this morning..then watched the ONE SHOW that was broadcast live from the flight deck...cool flypast and Heli landing while they where on-air too

Will hopefully be taking MissB in on Sat morning to see it if the weather is good (will go in on the motorbike).

The swordfish flypast must have been at the limits of what they fly in now days - was a bit windy in London.

She's open 10am to 2pm, I think on first-come-first-served basis and if the queue for HMS Ocean last year is anything to go by...get there early! Likely to get tickets or queue around the Greenwich Visitors Centre/Cutty Sark area.

Usually just a little further upstream from the College, if you head to the Cutty Sark, look left, you wont miss her!

I live at canada water so i may well take a wander down there tonight. I have only ever seen a carrier once and that was down at portsmouth and i could just about see the superstructure if i craned my neck just enough....

Thanks for all that, will give it a go.

We are at a 9am showing of Star Trek in Waterloo, so we won't get there for opening, but will have a wander over anyway. It'll be nice just to get close even if we don't get on board. Closest I've been previously was going out of Portsmouth on the St Malo ferry.

If you're not driving, jump on a Thames Clipper jet ferry from the London Eye to Greenwich....you'll go right past her on the way in to Greenwich Pier.

Great tip, had a cracking view of Edinburgh alongside Belfast and of Blyth and eventually Lusty.

Sadly, due to Trek and taking the pretty route we got here about half an hour ago. A rating said there would be no chance of getting on today. I trusted his word, despite this people were still queuing.

He said they are here tomorrow, so going to tackle it early and get over here again.

Anyone been today? Did anyone come early? What was it like at 10?

Hi Andy, We ditched our plan to ride in on the Motorbike today as the weather was awful at home this morning (& all afternoon too for that matter).
We are heading in tomorrow around lunchtime (the forecast is good all day).
Really looking forward to it tbh, cameras are on charge

Illustrious-pah, Ark Royal was a far superior ship .

I will say this-if you are intending on visiting the ship go as early as possible as visits to carriers tend to get silly busy. I was on the Ark Royal when they did the last ship open to visitors (SOTV) and it got ridiculously busy despite the fact we were in Portsmouth Naval Base! People were queuing to get onboard for over 2 hours.

Well, we took advice and left early-ish. Got here for just after 9 and the queue is long but we'll get on. According to people in the know in the queue if you aren't here by 11 you won't get on.

I've got some cracking phots I took of the last ever Harrier to take off from Ark Royal's flightdeck back in November 2010. I must dig them out and post them on here.
