Strange Nocturnal Helicopter Landings
Discussion
Thought I'd share and see if anyone can suggest what they're doing.
Basically several evenings this week a at dusk a pair of Helicopters have descended over our sailing club pretty low and hovered;

They've then disappeared for a few hours and returned when it's dark and virtually pitch black.
This time they've gone even lower so that the "skids" are very nearly if not actually touching the water.
It's not causing any problems/issues but just wondered if anyone can suggest who and why!

The one to the left looks like it has a wheeled undercarriage, so could be one of the new Wildcats being tested in covert ops.
That isn't a wildcat. It has skids, the perspective makes the skid supports look like wheels.What's a Wildcat then and what's it doing buzzing our sailing club?

Training - they look like AAC Lynx.
Presumably to drop divers of some description.The forward lynx is what's colloquially known as a 'wheelie bin' because of the fixed strut wheel arrangement. Wouldn't be surprised if the floors on all the version of the Lynx are the same and so have the fittings for the front nose wheel and pylon supports built in making this useability mod pretty easy.
