Our rooftops here in Lenham. Wow, what a sight. Any idea what she is doing in the area? I'm now say by the window hoping she comes back.

Strange. I am starting to wonder if it was something else. By the time I heard it and looked out the window it was almost out of sight. It had props, and was LOW. I had a chat to some people outside the pub down the road who were just as surprised as me.

How much of it did you see? The only other four-engined warbird I can think of that might be flying is a B-17.

I wouldn't have thought anything that historic would be out that late at night but I could be wrong.

Maybe a Hercules perhaps?

The tail end as it flew over the village square. I thought it was the Lancaster because Leeds Castle is just down the road, and they have flypasts at some events.

Possibly yes. Any idea why it would be so low? Not that I am complaining- they can make it a daily visit if they wish.

How many tail fins?

The Hercules is powered by turboprops - which sound very different to the piston engines of a Lancaster or B-17.

No idea sorry- it flew over our village square, I saw it because I leapt off the sofa when I heard the noise. I'm fairly nippy on my feet, but not super hero nippy. :-)

A B-17 came over Gravesend last week, heading north over the river. Sounded great. My father in law was VERY excited!

I'm not too sure Eric. However, my next door neighbour has just said the Air Force do use the area from time to time for low flying training, so on that basis I'm going with the Hercules.
