Just watching the footage on BBC news and there seems to be quite a large area of burn/scorch marks at the top of the outside fuselage in front of the tail.

BBC news also now saying that a Thompson 787 has aborted its transatlantic flight and returned to Manchester. No reasons given yet.

Not sure. As Eric has said maybe APU related but also could be anything. Quite a busy afternoon for news as a train has also derailed in Paris.

"Also a TOM 787 returning to MAN after holding for 3 hours over the Irish Sea. Just flown downwind and had his gear down at about 6000 feet. Not sure how long it's been down for but could point to a hydraulic issue."

I assume its the same aircraft.
