The mascot at Vanguard storage on the A40 @ Alperton is back!!

Looks like a Navy Hunter coming in for an approach on Hanger Lane 18L. Certainly brightened up my commute today!

hiding from the strong winds... their website said it had to be taken down a short notice. But not to worry as something else interesting is planned to go back up there shortly!

With apologies from Vanguard, we had to take it down in a bit of a hurry a couple of weeks ago because of that storm that was due to come through. We didn't want to come in on the Monday morning to find it on the A40! It is now tucked away for the winter but will be back next year.

No it doesn't, it really doesn't!

WT555 is a Hunter FMkI.

The FAA had TMk8, Mk GA11 and Mk PR11 all of which were hugely different.

I'd much prefer to see looked after on display in a museum somewhere, is it really that costly to do?

Group buy anyone..?

WT555 is a very early Mk1 isn't it? In fact, I think it is one of the development aircraft. If that is the case, it is quite an important example of the type.

If you are using the Western Avenue on Friday look out for a new exhibit being lifted on to the Vanguard tower, something that has not been displayed before.

I doubt it........it's too heavy according to Vanguard. Also the Hunter just fits, and a Frightning is a lot bigger than a Hunter so as well as weight, it's likely physically too big for the tower.

Either way, it better be epic. There's now a huge expectation on what's coming next.

I expect it's going to be at least a TSR 2 or a Bristol Brabazon.

I'm sworn to secrecy!

I will only say that it is not the Lightning nor the Hunter, it is something new to the Vanguard collection.

Subject to weather conditions it will be up there on Friday morning.
