Low flying plane over Redruth/Camborne in Cornwall.

Just wondering if anyone has any clue what it may have been upto?

It was a private plane, looked like a small jet, definitely not military.

I spotted it on Wednesday flying very low towards Redruth from Penzance and then tonight flying in the opposite direction, at first I thought it was going to crash it was that low.

Seen that too today at pool and then travelling towards culdrose, very low and controlled. Seems to go back and fourth a bit too.

I would guess its some sort of training aircraft for culdrose.

They train up pilots at culdrose , so not one of those doing navigation exercises is it?

I would have thought they would be in a military plane rather than a private looking jet?

Is that a Canberra in the background, 39 seconds in to that BBC video? Where would that be? "RAF" Culdrose? Newquay was mentioned in the script, so is RNAS St Mawgan more likely?

No drugs, honest!

There's been a bit of 'winding up' going on on another thread (can't remember which) after someone slipped up on the service prefix for Culdrose. I'm just a bored ex-'pongo' looking to get a bite from the soggies/crabs on here, in a kind of 'light blue touch-paper and retire to safe distance' fashion. You are the first to 'nibble at my bait' (fnarr, fnarr).

As for the Canberra, it may be WJ874, or it might also be WK163. Both are at Newquay/St Mawgan from what I can tell, having moved down from Coventry along with a load of other aeroplanes of varying vintage/airworthiness to form the core of the Classic Aircraft Trust's "Classic Air Force" collection in Cornwall. Here is a link to the Canberra page on their website... http://www.classicairforce.com/canberra-info ...they have also taken on the SeaHawk from the SWWAPS museum site at Lasham, and possibly other bits and bobs too. It took me ages to find that site, but it looks like it will be well worth a visit next time I holiday in Cornwall. Quite a few of the 'exhibits' are operational/certified for flight too, with others under repair/restoration with a view to returning them to the air. Ironically, their Nimrod is marooned at Coventry, while the rest of the collection is housed in the old Nimrod hanger at St Mawgan.

There was a twin prop with an extended boom on the tail flying over Portreath on Friday. Flying low North and then returning South about 0.5km apart. Put it down to mapping/surveying but there's always odd stuff going on at RAF/RHH Portreath...

Oh well, there's my theory that accuracy on this forum matters gone for a pongo.
