Please excuse the use of a "daily mail" article, but:

That Vessel used to be one of the Sultan of Oman Navy's Offshore Fast Patrol Boats which I actually have had a drive of back in the 70's when I was about 8 years old,(watched closely by the Lt in charge & if the boat is indeed "Bravo 6") as my Dad was in SON for a few years back in the 70's, and kids were allowed out for day trips on the FPB's back then.

If memory serves me the Bravo boats were equipped with either 2 40mm Cannons for and 2 Exocet launchers at the rear, or one larger calibre cannon and a very large calibre machine gun aft, along with .50 Calibre brownings along the sides. They also had very advanced Laser range finders mounted above deck.

I honestly thought that civilians were not allowed to own this kind of ex Military hardware. how much does it cost to run and keep a thing like this?.

He and the vessel were in Penzance dry dock for a bit earlier this year, I quite liked the look of it.

'The cannons are just for show': Ex-Royal navy officer denies he was off to fight Somali pirates after his heavily-armoured boat was impounded in Spain'

It sounds an excellent idea. He should be allowed to go off a la Francis Drake, shoot up a few pirates and come back for a cash handout from the Queen as a thankyou for clearing up Her Majesty's High Seas. It would be far more efective than a few RN girlies with hosepipes.

AK 47/RPG vs Hozelock 15mm? Ridiculous.

The cover story is a bit thin; deterring errant fishing boats from fishing too close to oil platforms? BRNC obviously didn't cover 'bullstting penpushers'.
