Video :- Engine failure - forced landing
Discussion
Just seen this on YouTube. A superbly executed forced landing. I'd like to think I'd be that amazing in a similar situation, but I'm honestly not sure I would be! Maybe by the time I've got my PPL.........

This is my "favourite" engine failure video. Very calm indeed. Even managed to get some financial gain from the watch manufacturer!

There's one of an A36 Bonanza making a forced landing just after take off, the plane was a write off, but the pilot did a very good job of getting his passengers on the ground safely.
Another good one is the plane landing on a road with traffic, after landing he turns into a car park and parks the plane.

Look at the right-hand seat guy's fist on the control column as he's touching down - that grip would crush wallnuts, no messing.Looks like the audio was deliberately wiped: I'd love to hear the dialogue...

Very impressive bit of flying, though.
I am always impressed with this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3MlRRM9tpA
I don't know if luck is a factor in these landings but I am sure the pilots make their own luck.

So it wasn't ripped out of his hand on impact I expect. Not that the control surfaces would be doing much after that but you wouldn't want to plant your face on it.Edited by Simpo Two on Sunday 8th September 10:27

That could have been very much worse! Not a very large choice of landing spots. So much for the glide clear rule! I don't know if luck is a factor in these landings but I am sure the pilots make their own luck.

Stuff about Albert
With in excess of 2000hrs C-130, and having been to Harstad/Navik (Evenes) on innumerable occasions (including Bootie winter deployments) I have to say that your account is so full of holes it bears absolutely no likeness to any possible Hercules sortie. It'd probably make a nice piece of Edam however.
