Didn't look like they were enjoying it even before they crashed.
Does anyone actually enjoy going fast in speed boats?
As for what went wrong, I can only assume he hit the wave/wake too fast or at the wrong angle, so he should have slowed down or changed his course beforehand.

How could you not? It's like going fast in cars, but with more danger and less predictability.

I just find it really uncomfortable and even painful; not in a constant and bearable way like a single seater is, but in a constantly pounding up and down, back jarring sort of way.
I've likened it to driving fast over a bumpy road with a rear passenger repeatedly punching you in the kidneys.markmullen said:

Sounds about right! To be honest, most sports have positives and negatives. My old sport of motor racing was dangerous, expensive and somewhat uncomfortable, but I loved it so that outweighed those negatives. With speedboats the negatives are as described (plus danger and expense), but I happen to not really enjoy speedboats so don't have any positives. If you do and the positives outweight the negatives, then that's great!
Oldy but a goody :-)
Someone should have given the baldy tw*t driving a bump on the head sooner IMO, around 1:40 where he puts the hammer down would have been good.
Nice to see they had a radio and first aid kit onboard.... (probably left it at the quay to leave room for beer and t-shirts for the lads :-)
