Very sad. That's what happens when you have a company run by American morons who have no idea of the boat industry. The funny thing is that if you google the old owners they all seem very proud of the fact the ran it (into the ground!)

They finally succumbed to the pressures of the global financial crisis. Some of the models (moulds, jigs, designs, rights, etc....) and the brand name were bought by Hanse in Germany where those models are now being built.

It, the workforce & suppliers, the latter group includes me, got shafted for £20m by a pair of greedy bds stateside whose business accumen is based solely on the dollar in the pocket today, I.E. sold down the river by greed.

My business used to supply Fairline but took the decision not to continue doing so… They're lost in show business!

Sorry yes.

If they spent less time putting in silly labour intensive, paper pushing, box ticking systems and more time listening to (and occasionally paying) expert supply companies,
they'd do a lot better!

Painful, isn't it Mr Loudly? I was ther for 8 years, loved the brand and (most of) my colleagues, but got fed up of living under the on off threat of redundancy for 4 years!

Stainless steel gas struts and fittings. Did loads of work sorting and helping people, then they treat you like sh.t, not worth the hassle…

I'm not sure it's a total mess, sure they (the staff) have definitely been through the mill over the last few years since I left. I was with some senior members of the design and marketing teams this weekend, and I get the impression that the hard work and sacrifices are starting to pay off. The new models have some impressive weight and structure characteristics. Even though I now work for 'The Enemy' I still wish them the best of luck!

From the outside looking in its very easy to cast everyone within as being obstructive and useless, I hated having to tow the corperate line knowing full well that it wasn't actually the truth and would mess suppliers around. The feeling of being powerless to do the honest/decent thing was embarrassing. A few suppliers who I had strong connections with knew and appreciated the situation.

I really hope things ease for everyone soon.
