And a nightmare to launch - you need to wade out to water deep enough to get the boat upright with the foils in the water and then do a gymnastic flying leap onboard as it picks up the wind.

A bit too energetic for me but they do go like rockets

I've had one go and came back a thoroughly confused man.... bear away and sheet in?? wtf is that all about????

Yes they are twitchy and bear in mind the video was taken of one of their National (possibly Internation) Open meetings xso the guys are probably at the top of their games in them so if they're struggling!!

As for quick.. speeds of 30knots were being recorded at the meeting but the other thing is that they are silent which if you're racing against them and not aware of them coming through they just go straight by with barely a splash!!

And at the other end of the talent level, here's me, in my boat, just at the nanosecond in time where the laws of physics give me a tap on the shoulder and say "sorry, but you are prohibited from going that fast with that much boat under water instead of flying, hang on 'cos here comes a pitchpole!"

You're being unduly harsh on yourself hard-drive you're a lot better now than you were!

You need to find/know someone with one of these carbon beauties who would trust you to have a go.

Aw shucks, thanks. It really is a boat that you need to spend an awful lot of time in to master it, be at the right weight (non sailors, I'm not as fat as I look in that shot, I have a bouyancy aid under that rash vest!) and really commit to. TBH, I can't be arsed to put that amount of time in, I'm quite happy to just have a blast round every so often. However I would like to be able to foil gybe reliably...I've come very close but not nailed it yet.

There's always next summer I guess!
