BA 747-8F relief flight to the Philippines

Daughter and me went to a local store and bought 100 tins of meat and fruit and stuff to send to the area. Her school was organizing a collection for the red cross. Also threw in about 20 pot noodles too. They like that stuff, do Filipinos.

Mrs Tex is a flipper, we had a fundraising do at our local community centre and raised 5 and half grand, plus a couple of tons of clothes which will be sorted and sold / sent along with the other stuff we're putting in the container.
It actually got to a point where we were turning bags of clothes away, as we'd gone way over the capacity of the box we've booked. Unfortunately it fell to me to tell people we were up to capacity and couldn't accept any more.
I felt bad about turning away the bags, more so about turning away the goodwill , but as I explained to one total f
king dhead who told me I should book another container for the surplus (as he stood there doing nothing to help) - it reaches a point where the expenses outweigh the benefits.
Anyway, a big big thankyou to anyone who attended and donated to the cause, anywhere and at anytime.

Not quite. They are owned and operated by GSS who have their own AOC. They do AD HOC flights on behalf of BA/IAG. They are not not an asset to or flown by BA and it is GSS AOC that would be affected should anything happen. It's basically like hiring a coach for a night out. Your name is on the LED display at the top but in no way can you do with it as you please.http://projects.ajc.com/gallery/view/business/boei...

We have two 747F in our fleet but they are owned and operated by TNT Airways. We have no impact on the operating of the aircraft except the route they fly due to business.

GSS is the British subsidiary of Atlas. They exist solely to provide cargo capacity for BA and fly solely for BA World Cargo on scheduled BA freight services throughout the world. If BA were to pull their services, GSS would be shut down. Some of their pilots are BA mainline pilots on secondment while the rest are directly employed by GSS. You're correct in that GSS has it's own AOC but there is nothing ad hoc about the operation in any shape or form as it is run by BA from Heathrow, although the aircraft are based at Stansted. They also operate occasional charters using their spare capacity between scheduled services.

It is still a kind of wet lease. GSS was actually set up by Atlas for BA after the CAA noticed that British AOC work was being carried out from the UK by an American registered operation. In the bigger picture, if the cargo operation were to expand above a certain level, BA would take it back in house.Didn't realise the new ac were on a dry lease.
