787 battery issues: The saga continues!

Looks like the containment measures have been successful.

Indeed. The boxes etc clearly do the job of containing any problems. It wouldn't have been re-cleared to fly again if they weren't. But their redesign of the battery system hasn't solved the overheating issues. That said, who knows, it could just be a one in a million fault on this occasion!

Would love to be a fly on the wall in boardrooms of both Airbus & Boeing when 787 problems are announced. I imagine that Boeing is a bit like the famous scene from Downfall and Airbus directors are doing hookers and coke.

Amazing. Build a whole meganormously complicated aeroplane, but fk up on the batteries.

The Li-ion batteries in my Bosch cordless drill are good; they should get some of those.
