Was surprised to see Tornado in pieces. Just routine winter maintenance.
Another decent event and plenty of people there

I thought the Blue Peter was knackered. Did they just shunt it outside for the photos?

It did a good job of destroying its valve gear and con rods some years ago, but it was repaired to running order. It hasn't steamed for a while but i think its only boiler cert.

Will Tornado be painted back into green after rework at Barrow Hill?

I was there too, with my Dad on the Saturday. Enjoyed it (it was mainly for my father's benefit!) but really loved the Deltic shed, with a sea of spare Deltic engines lying around. Good event.

Ali (great name BTW!) I believe it depended on how easily it came apart as to wether or not it would need repainting. Must admit I think it looks much better in the darker green.
Barmonkey - yes seen the clip before. Not a pleasant sight to see a loco do that to itself. I believe the driver was blamed, but he did all he could to prevent it and broke either his hand or arm in the process.

Couple more for good measure:

Thanks Rich

I was dead against painting Tornado in blue but I've got to admit, I prefer it to the green. have to wait and see.

I think her first public outing will be the AI Steam Loco Trust White Rose from Kings Cross to York on Saturday 12th April. I'll be in the fields between Biggleswade and Sandy waiting to film it.
