Below is part of today's departures board for Birmingham airport. A common theme on the full board is numerous flights all taking off at the same time to the same destination. Why do they do that ? Does it make life easier for traffic control ?

Delta, KLM and AirFrance are all part of Skyteam, they're the same flight but listed for customers who booked through the respective airline.

I fly on a Delta flight from Heathrow to Minneapolis but it is also listed as a KLM flight...

I wonder how many sad acts have turned up at airports expecting to see many rare and exotic planes and it turns out to be a single KLM B737!!
