I seem to have broken the boat insurance industry by requesting an insured value greater than the purchase price. This is because I caught the factory on a good day and got a stupidly low price for the boat, but I know that if it blew up and sank I'd have to pay at least £15K more for a replacement of the same spec.

So I can either agree to a sum that will not get me a replacement boat, or invent a higher purchase price, or find an insurance company that can do more go 'der'. Ideas welcome!

I have always fond these guys to be extremely good: www.noblemarine.co.uk although for sailing dinghies. I believe they do powered stuff too.

Might be worth trying Collidge and Partners, they insure my narrowboat.

I had this problem too, got a good price, two years later they were selling for more, so I tried to increase the insured value.

Did not compute.

I ended up separately insuring every extra item I'd purchased that was on board instead, all the clothes, dinghy, outboard, equipment, etc. which added enough value overall should it have gone missing or up in smoke.

New boat I just inflated the purchase price (I got a super bargain last year), having learned my lesson last time.
