Which Air Display?

Hoping this is the correct forum for this but please move it if not.

I want to take my daughter to an air show this summer as she loves planes. She is only two but loves videos of them and watching them from the end of Bristol airport runway. We are going to Yeovilton air day as it is not far away (plus I want to see the Vulcan that should hopefully be there) but I'm undecided about whether to go to Fairford or to Farnborough.

Which is the best air show of the two and also have you got any advice to make the best of the day such as best viewing area etc?

We go to the show at RAF Cosford and I'd get some ear defenders for your daughter.

Ear defenders are top of the list! Especially if the Vulcan is at Yeovil!

Also just checked where RAF Cosford is and it's a bit far for from us. We are in Somerset so Farnbourough with traffic is two hours max and Fairford is closer.

It's a long way without a doubt, worth it , but I'm sure there's as good closer.

Kids really are sensitive to noise and mine whinged continuously before we got some for them

Weston international air festival 21+22 June is in your neck of the woods and the Vulcan is a confirmed visitor.

I wouldn't bother with cosford, I've worked the airshow there the last 4/5 years and the main reason I go is for a night out in Shrewsbury the night before.

Yeovilton is a good choice, have you thought about bournemouth? My niece and nephew love it they get to play on the beach whilst getting to watch a free airshow, one of the better shows I've had the pleasure of working.

RIAT (fairford) is expensive but worth it for the static line up although I'd say at that age she'd be more interested in seeing them in the air.

Sorry I meant RAF Waddington ( which is even further away from you! ). I d been reading about the old Breakfast club meetings at Cosford and got mixed up

Bournemouth from the water takes some beating

I'd go to RIAT Fairford. It's pricey but the atmosphere of the place and variety of aircraft is mind blowing. Unless you're an arms dealer you'll also pretty much see everything from Farnborough here.

It may be worth considering Kemble which has some great shows and Flying Legends at Duxford which is unmatched for historic piston-engined aircraft.

I always go to Bournemouth, get a different perspective being on the beach and then go to the top of the cliffs.
Much better view seeing the planes at sea

If you do go to Bournemouth and the weather is good try and avoid the weekend displays as it was ridiculously busy last year. We went on the Saturday and felt like we had a few square feet of beach each. The evening display was much quieter and we enjoyed fresh stone baked pizza for dinner.

It might be too far for you but, Eastbourne Airbourne is a good airshow. The pier is a good place to go and watch, as you're that much closer to the planes. Another benefit, is that the Red Arrows will be flying all four days, and maybe the Canadian Lancaster will make it's first UK air display.
