I have been weighing up Farnborough and Fairford this year with Fairford winning by a nose. If there is a group of us going to Farnborough it might sway it for me
EricMc - you seem to have a fair bit of experience with Farnborough, is there likely to be enough fast military stuff to keep me going for a year?

Stopped going to F'Boro many years ago. I can remember a time when there was always something in the air, now it seems that there are large gaps in the flying display punctuated by displays from aircraft you've seen before.
I do appreciaate that F'Boro is all about selling and it's so much more about the money than it was back in the early 70's.

Farnborough was ALWAYS a trade show.
Farnborough's flying display always started in the afternoon. I've been to most since 1978.
These days the public say displays are substantially different to the trade days with more historic aircraft and privately owned aircraft compared to during the week. Many of the trade display aircraft go home by Friday.

My first was 82. I recall seeing the 757 and 767, along with the B1, not sure if it was the B1B or not.Farnborough's flying display always started in the afternoon. I've been to most since 1978.

My dad, god rest his soul was concerned about me taking a camera, as he was worried it would be done for spying...
ETA... Google tells me that it was a B1A

It was a development aircraft as Reagan had re-instated the programme after it had previously been cancelled by Carter. It was flown at Farnborough by the Rockwell Chief Test Pilot Doug Benefield who was later killed when he crashed during a low level test.My dad, god rest his soul was concerned about me taking a camera, as he was worried it would be done for spying...
